This focus highlights the growing importance of Intrinsic Capacity (IC)—an individual’s total physical and mental capabilities—as a cornerstone of modern aging research. Complementing the concept of frailty, IC shifts the perspective from deficits toward preserving function, resilience, and quality of life. Recent high-impact studies have demonstrated how IC can be measured and applied as a practical framework for biological aging research and clinical intervention.
