Editorial

Dear friends and colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to Montpellier for the National Teaching Seminar on Paediatric Surgery, the theme of which this year will be vesico-ureteral reflux.

It’s already been 20 years since this subject was discussed at a seminar! On re-reading the book at the time, we realise just how much our understanding of the disease, the role of complementary examinations, non-surgical treatments and indications for surgery have evolved.

Vesico-ureteral reflux remains one of the most hotly debated subjects in paediatric urology. Many questions remain: when should I perform a cystography? In which patients should I apply antibiotic prophylaxis? In which cases is surgery really worthwhile? How should we monitor our patients during childhood and adolescence?

These are the questions we will be trying to answer during the seminar. The discussions are going to be passionate and exciting. The hand-picked speakers will bring the debate to life, and a session on ‘my worst complications’ will provide a wealth of practical information.

And what a pleasure it will be to see you all in Montpellier, in the historic city centre, on the eve of a weekend that you may well be able to extend with us!

We look forward to seeing you all there, and we’ll give you a warm SFUPA welcome.
